Humans, period

People have always made a big deal out of the differences between men and women, just as they have made a big deal out of the importance of equal rights, and Skin rejuvenation therapy for people who sit out in the Sun for hours, even though they know they shouldn’t. Not only the differences between men and women, but the things which make each sex better in some way than the other. Take multi-tasking for example. Throughout my life I have been told that women can multi-task and men have no hope. I have also heard it said, on numerous occasions, that women have absolutely ‘no special awareness’. But you know what? How can you possibly generalize about these things? The human race is so diverse, and so capable, that to me it just seems a little short-sighted to keep repeating these arguments. Yes, there are examples of where both the above points can be seen to be true, but what about the exceptions? For example, I have worked with men who could multi-task exceedingly well (and were as straight as an arrow) and with women who had the kind of bat-like special awareness that made them able to park a car better than…Well…if it’s feet (?) could reach the pedals, a bat. So this is what I’ve come to conclude: men and women are people, above all else. Yes they are different, and yes they are good at different things, but let’s not loose sight of the big picture. When it comes down to it we’re all humans, aren’t we?
